We believe in being upfront about how Freepia makes money, because that's part of being a site you can trust. This page explains our funding and the line we keep between advertising and editorial content.

Display advertising

Freepia is free to read. To cover hosting, tools and the time spent writing and updating guides, we show display advertising, including through Google AdSense. Ads are served automatically by Google and its partners based on factors such as the page content and, where permitted, your browsing history.

Affiliate links

Some guides may, now or in the future, contain affiliate links — for example to a service or product useful to new residents. If you click such a link and sign up or buy, Freepia may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. When a link is affiliate in nature, we aim to make that clear.

We only mention services we believe are genuinely relevant to living in Korea, and a commission never changes our assessment. If something has a real drawback, we say so regardless of any commercial relationship.

Editorial independence

This is the most important part: advertisers and affiliate partners have no influence over our content. They do not see articles before publication, cannot request changes, and cannot pay for a favorable mention. Our guides are written from the reader's point of view, and our recommendations — when we make them — are based on what we believe helps a foreign resident, not on what pays us.

No professional advice

Freepia provides general information, not legal, tax, immigration, financial or medical advice. Nothing on this site, advertised or editorial, should be treated as a substitute for guidance from a qualified professional or the relevant official authority. See our Terms for the full disclaimer.
